Travel theme: Night
I love this picture of Riyadh at Night.
One, because it’s a rare moment of an empty Thalia Street.
And two, I love the lighted date trees. So utterly Saudi it makes me smile every time I’m on this street.

I love it, Tahira, I can see why it would make you smile. The reflections on the surface of the road are great too.
Thank you, Ailsa! I appreciate it. I never ate dates before I came here – now I’m a die hard date eater 🙂
I’ve always been partial to dates – my dear departed doggy loved them too – the mere sight of them would start him drooling 🙂
Adorable! 🙂
How do they manage to light up the date trees? It doesn’t look like little mini-xmas lights which would have been my first guess. They are cute, though.
I’m not sure, Gunta. I haven’t figured it out. It almost seems like it’s one big “sleeve” or something – like it was pulled over or zipped up around the trees. And definitely not like Xmas tree lights, your right.
I love trees that are lit up as well 🙂 it makes everything more magical!!
Thanks, Victoria. Your right, trees & light… the combination always makes things more magical 🙂
Such wonderful photo… 🙂
It reminds me when I lived at Pepsi Road, Riyadh KSA (1984).
Have a nice day.
Some great restaurants on Pepsi Rd! Yum! I have a feeling it’s changed a bit since 1984 though 🙂
