Photo of the Week: The Dead Sea ~ Jordan

From now on, each Friday (or there about), I will share a photo with you from my little adventures.

Is The Dead Sea really dead?

The Dead Sea ~ Jordan

Where currently the latest shenanigans are taking place.

The Dead Sea; is the lowest place on earth, roughly 1,300 feet (400 meters) below sea level. And it’s also the saltiest place on earth. The white in this photo is salt.

And that is Israel in the background.

And more to come on this amazing place…

    • Gunta, it is indeed VERY salty. Nothing lives in it except microbes; no fish, no shrimp. “With a saline level between 28 and 35 percent. By comparison, the world’s saltiest oceans are only 3 to 6 percent” (from my tour pamphlet.) I’ll be posting more pictures (hopefully soon) where it doesn’t look so “desolate” 🙂

  1. Wow, beautiful picture from a stunning part of the world! Amazing perspective here too, the huge mountains rising in Israel with the single man in the foreground. Great shot!

    Thanks for sharing 🙂
